The sd adaptor should not affect your actual sd card. You purchase an sd card based on it's speed rating, and it depends also on the speed rating of your sd port of your device (ex: laptop, table, etc.). This is sinialr to buying a USB drive. You buy it nased on speed (2.0, 3.1, etc.) But, if your port can't handle that speed, you basically, you dont essentially need the faster USB drive unless you plan on keeping it as you upgrade your device.
