• It's a zigbee bulb so you need a hub to use it. It might be possible to run the hub on a 5g network if you had an appropriate router at home.

• Great question Daniel! The SmartThings Smart Bulb actually connects to the SmartThings Hub using ZigBee connectivity and does not connect to WiFi.
