I was frustrated by this when I first got my 75 inch 4k TV. After doing a lot of research, I figured out that it has to do with the aspect ratio of the film for the disc: 16:9 (widescreen) 4:3 (full screen). Very few movies are 4:3. You can try to adjust and stretch the screen to fit your tv, but this could actually cut parts off of the screen - meaning you actually can't see what is meant to be seen because the viewing area has been stretched too large. I tried playing with my tv settings and samsung player settings (because there are some if you go into settings >> aspect ratio), but nothing changes it so that it was full screen instead of wide screen if your source/disc is only widescreen. Very disappointing, I know, and a total waste of screen space.
