“I have the UN55HU8700FXZA model from 2014. I've seen that HDMI 3 input is the go to on older models, but can't find any information in the manual or on the input label itself that indicates if it is 2.2. Basically, will this player work with my TV?”

Your tv must be ultra HD 4k to fuuly use this player. It might show your older movies as it is backwards compatible, but if you want to realize the full capabilities of this player you must have the tv that is ULTRA HD and 4K and you must play 4K dvd movies on it. You can use it on any available HDMI slot, but you won't see the high quality of the video with the new 4k tv.
