I have the m80 Vizio that does not have hdr. it works fine, You will get a message saying your tv does not support hdr, but then it works fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it still works without HDR. My 2014 Samsung doesn't have HDR and when a movie supports it, I just get a notice saying to take advantage of HDR, plug into a HDR supported tv. But even without HDR, picture is amazing! Go for it!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you are planning on upgrading your television in the future, you will most likely purchase a television with HDR and the player will then be able to show-off all of its bells and whistles. In the meantime, I have tested mine on several monitors, some HDR compatible, some not, and it definitely improves the look and quality of discs regardless. If you have a 4K television, the player will play and display the new format (4K HDR) of Blu Rays...you just won't see the added HDR element on your television. It will look stunning, but it won't be the 'full potential.' If you are looking for a step up in disc quality and may upgrade your tv within a year or so, this player is definitely not pointless. You'll be impressed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As long as you plug the player into Port 5 and have a certified 18 Gbps HDMI cable (try the one you have first), then you can still play UHD Blu-ray discs. One of the visual benefits, besides 10 bit video with wider color standards and higher contrast, is HDR, so you're missing out on some of the fun. If you have or wish to upgrade to Dolby Atmos and DTS: X immersive surround, then be aware that some studios are starting to use them as an exclusive feature of UHD Blu-ray rather than regular Blu-ray.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was told yes you just get about 3.5k
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.in a way, yes it will be pointless. because the new 4K movies have HDR and they will not play unless you have an HDR tv. I have this hooked up to my new Sony 630D 65 inch 4K HDR and the pictures on my screen is incredible, I had that same m60 you have and gave to my daughter
