“what kind of external memory is used with this player”

• It only has internal memory. Too bad it will not accept external micro SD cards. 16 GB will hold a lot of music, but being able to swap out various songs by swapping out micro SD cards would have been a real plus.

• not sure what you mean. What I have done was put my music in a folder on my computer and I drop& drag to the divice. It is that easy
