will this do auto backups on a laptop? null

Sorry, I don't own a laptop. However, this drive is not intended for permanent external mounting. I gets pretty warm after extended use. I only plug it in when I am working on music.

Hence, you can use this SSD Drive with any software that supports backing up data to an externally connected storage device. In order to know how to do the same, it would be best to contact the manufacturer of your laptop as they would have all its technical specifications.
