Why can't I format this card w/ my Canon T1i? I have purchased this card for video and a lot of photo space. I received it months ago, but only just now, being Memorial Day, need to use the card and it will not format to my camera. BIG problem.

I do not own a Canon T1i, but picked up these two answers to a similar question from the Canon forums page...maybe this is your answer...the card's capacity is too large for the older camera model.
"While your camera is compatible with SDHC memory cards with a capacity of up to 32GB, it's not compatible with the larger SDXC memory card used by your 128GB card."
"Probably because the methods used to make a card have that much memory didn't exist when the camera was built. Check the Canon support site for a firmware update."

Sounds like it may be too large for your camera. 64Gb (SDXC) cards use the exFat file system. Try downloading the SD Formatter from the SD Association. Go to sdcard dot org. If that does not work, try a smaller card (32gb=SDHC=Fat).

Instead of formatting the card,try just erasing all pics thru the camera menu. I had the same problem and doing this fixed my issue.

Need to look at camera specs. Some of the newer, faster cards don't work on older models because of changes in technology. I have had similar issues with a FS21 camcorder (a class 4 works fine but has issues with class 6 and 10 cards). However, you might want to check if there is a firmware update for the T1i, not guaranteeing but the update may help. You can also call canon tech support and they will quickly guide you to the right card/cards.

the Canon supports only SD& SDHC memory cards. SDHC spec only goes up to 32G. SDXC is 64G to 2 TB (theoretically). SDHC cards have FAT32 file format, whereas SDXC has exFAT file format.

Check if the card is locked. The little thing of the side. Also are you able to format from a computer? If it's not locked and same issue exist on computer then it's time to exchange it under warranty

Is the write protect tab slid to lock? This card works great in my Canon 5D Mark IV.
