To transfer your data, I’d suggest using iCloud or a computer-to-computer transfer for the easiest setup. If you prefer using an external hard drive, you’ll need an adapter. The hard drive comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable, but the MacBook Air you mentioned doesn't have USB-C ports, so an adapter would be necessary to connect it!
