can I down load game for my kids null

You can download and store but will have to copy to the PC if it is a PC game. If it is a console game, I am not sure but you probably cannot transfer to the console.

I was able to download movies on it, when they were in digital format, but I'm not sure about games.

You will be able to download games for your child. The only thing is that it must be smaller then the size of the disk.
