• Yes, but not encryption. If you decide to use the scanndisk encryption program, you can either use it on mac or windows

• It should be fine to transfer data as long as your MacBook has a USB port and the data you're trying to transfer doesn't exceed the drive's capacity. I've used this drive on both Windows and Mac products and have never encountered any problems.
