Depends on the size and pixaliztion(amount of pixals used) of the photo

the number of photos depends on the digital file size of the photo. each device that takes pictures, stores the photo in different-sized files and/or file types. for instance, a digital camera may save the file in a RAW format that can be up to 50 megabytes or more for EACH photo...while other digital cameras may save the images as JPGs or as low as 4mb in RAW. phone cameras tend to be around 20mb, but can also be much smaller or larger. so, you need to check to see how large each photo would be in the format you would be saving them. to answer your question -- as an example... if your camera is saving 10mb photos, then you would get about 100 photos on 1gb (keep in mind that the storage devices don't usually have all the memory available, so check to see what the available memory truly is for that drive).
