• I have transferred MP4, MP3, pdf, Excel and Word files back and forth between this flash drive, my Windows laptop, and my Windows desktop and have not needed to do any formatting to the drive.

• You shouldn't need to format it for most computers. It comes formatted with ExFat file system, which. is recognized by Windows, Macs and Linux computers. I chose to format it to mac hpfs file system and had no trouble. As to how to do this, you really need to google that question because the procedure is different on the three types of computers I mentioned.

• If using a windows computer just right click on the drive in file manager and click format.
