For that purpose, you wold be better off with an extra physical internal drive, or a SSD card for one of the motherboard slots. If you just want it for backups and storage, you may want to consider an external drive that would have a much larger capacity (like 4GB, for example).

However, this USB drive can be utilized to back up certain PC files. Also, to backup a program before doing an update where changes may eliminate some essential functions. Very effective for volume work and sizable files that you do not want to store on PC.
