Potential issues arise with regard to a a HOST's MSC compliance (like a computer or other device), but unless you're using a Windows computer more than 20 years old (pre-Win2000) or an ancient Mac, that's a total non-issue. An old(er) computer or device might not have USB 3.1/3.0 or even USB 2.0 capability, but I've never seen or heard or a USB device that isn't backward-compatible all the way to the original protocol, so while your access time might be slower than proverbial molasses in January on a really old computer (or other device), the drive will almost certainly "work".
