It should be as long as it's formatted properly and not bit locker encrypted or otherwise password protected. Also since the drive is made of metal it can absorb heat from the console if it's plugged in for a while and grow hot to the touch when you go to pull it out. The heat doesn't hurt the storage of the drive but you should let it cool for a couple of minutes after the console is turned off before you remove it.
