It all depends on what rate that you choose to rip your MP3 files. On average, you could plan on each song using up about 5mb of space.

Depending on how it was encoded determines the files size so there is no exact number tHAT can be given but I have and 8 gig thumb drive that was filled and had about 1000 songs. Hope this helps
