I don't think it will work for you as just the bracket it's self is somewhat heavy. It's going to put a fair amount of load on the fasteners going into a plaster wall. Perhaps Best Buy's Geek Squad installer could look at your situation and make a suggestion on how to do this for you. In my house one 65" TV is mounted over the fireplace and the previous owner build a 2" X 4" frame in the opening above the fireplace to mount the bracket to.
