Hey Rob, If you don't have a stud to secure the mount then I'd recommend looking into a drywall mount. For a full motion mount like this one it is not recommended to install into drywall without a stud. Drywall cannot support the swivel and tilt of the mount. Thanks, - Haydn @ SANUS
