Can this mount work on a 42", weight under 30 lbs? This looks like a good mount. Any chance it could be used on a 42" despite 39" spec?

This mount can work on just about any TV with a VESA mounting pattern up to 200mm x 200mm. Many 42" TVs have VESA 400 mounting, so although the bracket is strong enough to hold any modern TV, the back plate would not reach the mounting holes.

Yes you can for sure mount a larger tv with this mount. I have used this with a 42" Samsung myself. Just make sure the mount is secured to a stud in your wall.

I would assume that it would be possible if the schematics are the same for a larger TV. Most mounts are standard and TV's are made to accommodate various manufactures. I'm sure that there is a warning label absolving the company from liability if the item is used beyond the listed capacity but I suppose if the "mount" fits wear it. However, it is your risk to take.

The weight seems good, but the dimension of your TV exceeds those specified in the product description. I'm think it's not the right thing, but I would recommend directing that question to Sanus.
