“What is the diameter of the hole made by the circular saw. I will need to make a hole in the back of a wall-mounted entertainment center and I doubt the included hole saw will be up to the task on 5/8"-thick wood. So I will likely buy another hole saw.”

• Think it is 2 1/2 inches. And yes that hole saw will cut through wood. You'll have to use a screw driver to push out the wood plug (just like the drywall that will be in there). It's a surprisingly good hole saw.
