• Base is strong and heavy. Will take 2 people to complete and install on Tv. My TV is a 50 inch LG and it fits great on my dresser . My dresser length is about 44 inches and it works well with the TV size .

• the base is 27" by 13". The description of the unit gives the TV sizes it will take. Not sure what you mean, this item is a 'tv stand'....the base of it is attached to the vertical parts.
