Yes - you will need to buy the cord with the proper jacks. I have used this microphone just plugged into my iPhone 10-15 feet from the person speaking and it picks up the sound very well without using a cord to get it closer.

Either will work perfectly with the SmartMic, just choose which length you need. Best Buy does not currently stock them though. I don't see any other cables like them on Best Buy's site either.
