Does it require a usb hook up or is it just a pairing? null

I believe just bluetooth pairing.

Pairing is the primary option but can do either as it offers the option of USB/wired hookup as well. All this in in the user manual that comes with the keyboard.

It requires a USB-C for charging. It's otherwise a wireless Bluetooth connected device.

It has Bluetooth so no cable or dongle required but you have the option to switch to wired if you want.
