Hello Bran, We can confirm that the Satehi Thunderbolt 4 Slim hub will not work without AC power connected. Thunderbolt docks require AC power to supply the optimal amount of power to connected devices like external hard drives, monitors, etc, which requires a dedicated power source beyond what a standard USB connection can provide.
