While USB 3.0 is faster, this device is compatible to use with USB 2.0 as well. In fact all USB 3.0 devices are made to work with USB 2.0 too. USB 3.0 and 2.0 both use same type of plug and port but 3.0 is faster and is colored blue inside the port. I used this drive on both USB 3.0 and 2.0.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Usb 3.0 is faster than 2.0 however this drive is compatible with 2.0 and will work fine with it. I tried it on a 2.0 as my laptop has 2 and 3.0 ports, it works faster on the 3.0 obviously but you'll be good with 2.0.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The drive will work with either a USB 3.0 port or a USB 2.0 port. If you had a USB 3.0 port, the transfer speeds would be much faster. You can still plug the drive into a USB 2.0 port and it will act the same, except the speed at which files are transferred will be much slower. It does need to be a powered port.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is backwards compatible with usb 2.0. USB 3.0 is faster, but this drive will work fine with USB 2.
