Can I use this to get my recording off my dish TV box null

I don’t know I have DirecTV and never really tired, but I did work for the Cable company and in the front of their DVR was a USB port. That was for the Technicians to upgrade the software on the DVR, not for an External HDD. DirecTV has a Tower with their Whole House DVR to retain all the shows you recorded and you won’t lose your recordings if for some reason the DVR dies and you have to get a new one.
