The cable supplied with this drive is not proprietary, so it can, indeed, be replaced, or upgraded to one of a longer length.

The cable in question is most-accurately referred to as a "'USB 3.0 A Male' to 'USB 3.0 Micro-B Male'" Data Cable.

If considering a replacement of a longer length, take note that, technically, the USB 3.0 spec does not detail a maximum cable-length, however, a 9.8 foot (3.0 meter) maximum-length is recommended.

You should be able to. You may be able to use an OTG or 'On The Go cable'. Look into it.

The cable is the same as the samsung note 3 charger cable. you can buy them any where. I found a real cheap one on ebay.

Most external hard drives connect usb and yes can be purchased at Best Buy or even eBay.
