• A:Answer iFixit said that certain iMacs after 2009 have to use the same brand HD as the one in it now. So if you have a WD Drive installed in your iMac, you cant use a Toshiba drive. You are stuck with a WD. I dont know if yours is included in this, but I recommend checking ifixit for your 2012.
