Would this work in my Alienware m17 gaming laptop? null

It should indeed work, as it only requires it to be plugged into the motherboard sata port, and with the power supply's sata connectors. So as long as you have a extra sata cable, space for the hard drive and cables, and another power supply sata connector, all should work fine.
