The Seagate Rescue Data Recovery service for the STKP28000400 works by having you contact Seagate support to initiate a claim, after which you will be sent a prepaid shipping label to mail the damaged drive to their lab. Seagate's experts will then attempt to recover the data in-lab, and if successful, you will receive the recovered data on an encrypted storage device. If the recovery fails, the drive is returned to you. It's good for 1 year in the US, 3 years in EU, everywhere else is 5 years. It covers any and all data on the drive.
