“This should work for the new Xbox Series S, shouldn't it? Just wondering b/c the little 1TB drive they want you to buy cost almost as much as the Xbox Series S itself. So this would make it cheaper and give me more storage in the long term.”

It works with the new xbox's. You can download games to the drive but you can't play high resolution games from the drive. You can play gamepass games from the drive.
