“I am trying to connect them to my lenovo yoga laptop with the aux cord. My computer recognises that a device is plugged in when i plug in my headphones but the sound does not play into the headphones. Please advise.”

Click on the sound icon in the taskbar and see if there is a drop-down menu which allows you to select the headphones as your default playback device.
