“I'm looking for headphones just for listening to music. I plug straight into my sony cd/md player and bypass the receiver. the cd/md player has volume control. will these work without added amp or going through receiver?”

I don't have an amp and use them with my phone(iPhone), work laptop and PC Desktop motherboard integrated sound card, and I get enough sound out of those.
