No, you can have the TV volume at any volume the NON-HEARING INPAIRED person wants to and the person wearing the headphone can adjust their hearing level on the earphone they are wearing. The sound quality is excellent on the 175 headset.

It will not cut off automatically. You have to mute the TV yourself. When muting the TV it will not affect the headphones. The volume for the headphones are controlled on the headphones.

In menu change the TV Sound to External Speaker. If Sound is on TV speaker you cannot hear sound in the headset.
