“Will this dock itself to charge or do I have to do that myself? The specs say it will not automatically do it but another response to a different question says it does.”

It depends on where you locate the dock. If your room has lots of furniture which pose obstacles between the vacuum and dock the docking process can be challenging. We also have an earlier iRobot vacuum which touts self docking but has similar a similar problem. We put it in the bedroom and it was able to dock in a room with less furniture , and it went under the king sized bed and cleaned an area we wouldn’t reach with a conventional vacuum.
