“Is the oder cartridge only used to keep oder out of room and does the purifier work as well if you do not use it? I notice it has an oder that makes me sorta nauseous. I assume the smell doesn't go away or get better after using it for awhile?”

You do not need to use the scent pod. I ran mine without it and it seemed to work fine.
