This model has a soft roller as the front the roller with a traditional nontraditional ( second traditional type roller does not have bristles it works like a wave scooper for debris) style roller behind. The second roller will not damage any floor while the first roller acts as a duster for hardwood plus the suction pulls in the dust and debris. This is Dyson Quality vacuum at a reasonable price. Shark vacuums are rated second to Dyson,
