Was I Even Vacuuming Before Getting This!?!?

This is my first NEW vacuum. And let me tell yall that this thing works wonders. It was very easy to assemble as well. My mom is a self employed housekeeper always talks about how nothing beats a Shark and regretted the one time she didn't end up getting one. Pictured is my first pass in the living room. And it's not a large room. It was also not maintenanced correctly before I moved in a year+1/2 ago and I have 2 cats who shed so much you could make almost a full of of them from the fur that flies off of them. I've been using this consistently for about 2 months now. And it does not stop picking up dirt, fur, hair, and other various treasures. It rumbled out a piece and type of glitter that I've never seen before after a few days. It has a light pull forward that helps assist. Personally like going the speed it sets itself at. It is slower doing it this way, but so very effective. Also works just fine and picks up a lot still while in a hurry. It also can tell when you are going in reverse and change the spin on it's rollers. Very impressed that the rollers have not clogged up yet. They seem to be tangle free as advertised so far. It also has a scent diffuser to help eliminate odors that are in your carpet. Was not expecting much of it. Was also worried that it would cause breathing issues for my cat with asthma. But it really has helped with lingering odors and has not been an issue for my cat. Also if you're looking to make your downstairs neighbors (who are always arguing and yelling enough to wake you up in the middle of the night that your were told not to engage with by multiple people) to be quiet, this thing really gives a good hint with how well it hits the floor! It goes over my small washable area rugs relatively fine. They have gotten caught within a few times, but the vacuum with error itself out, but not turn itself off. The error codes are lights by the rollers that will turn red wherever it is clogged up. So it will show a light on the left, right, or go all the way across depending on where it detects a clog. Only used the attachments once just to see, and it still seems to pull up quite a bit. Would recommend to anyone who's in the market for a new vacuum.

    Amazing for Pet Owners

This vacuum has been a life savior for my rugs. With a husky and golden retriever there is never a shortage of dog hair. I also was suprised with how well the odor eliminator worked without adding weird smells to my carpet. The pictures below are first and second pass on my rug. I have reccomended this to anyone needing a new vacuum!

The Cleanest I've Seen My Carpet In A Long Time

CLEANING 10/10: Let's be clear, I'm still not a 'vacuum guy.' After my Shark Vertex AZ2002, I thought I had found the one machine that could make me tolerate this chore. I honestly didn't think it could get better, and I wasn't looking for a new vacuum. However, this Detect Pro model has managed to do it again, adding a layer of smart technology that makes cleaning faster and, dare I say, even more satisfying. The Shark Detect Pro technology includes DirtDetect, Edge Detect, and FloorDetect technology. Regarding the “DirtDetect” system. It has a two-brush roll system, with four sensors to automatically react to hidden dirt, debris, hair, and will in turn increase suction and brush roll speed to get that all up. It also has “direction detect” where it will recognize which direction I am vacuuming and automatically directs the powerful suction to that direction for max cleaning both forward AND reverse. You can actively see this working as the light on the front of the vacuum will go from a white to a violet along with hearing the vacuum increase suction. This technology saved me a lot of time. As I didn’t have to go over things as much and clearly worked. As here's the crazy part that sold me: After the vacuum's purple DirtDetect light kicked on and the suction boosted over a high-traffic area, I went back to test it. I vacuumed that same spot again, and... nothing. The light stayed white. The suction stayed normal. That's not a gimmick; that's just smart, efficient cleaning. Nice! The “FloorDetect” technology also worked well. Automatically switching from carpet to hardwood floor. The only problem I had with this system is throw rugs. As when I went over them in detect mode it would increase suction and then try to eat it. Making me have to switch to manual mode for those (hard floor, carpet low pile, and thick carpet). Which is done by turning the knob on the top posterior right of the dustbin. Picture is attached. I also enjoyed the “Edge Detect” which uses sensors to register when you are near an edge. You can see this in action too. As the device has lights on the front of it. During normal operation the two front “headlights” are on. However, when you are near an edge it will turn off the opposite light keeping the light on just the side it is going against while boosting the suction. And it did a great job at picking up everything in the corner where I didn’t have to go back behind it and pick it up or come from a different direction. By the time I was done I had a full Dillon’s/King Soopers bag full of dust and debris. And dang did my carpets look great. BUILD QUALITY 10/10: Like all the other Shark devices I own it is built not only with good quality but with attention to detail to try and make it as user friendly and intuitive as possible. Everything clicks together nice, isn’t loose, and when picking it up and manipulating it is very smooth. I like that you can pull out the long tube to hit higher up places, edges of stairs, or in-between the refrigerator and cabinets where dust accumulates. Along with being able to lift off the entire base to carry around giving you more versatility. On the vertex you can lift the base off to go under tiny spaces. But with this it lifts off the brush roll making it so you cannot do that, which is a minor negative. Each of those buttons feel satisfying and click back into place nicely. But the shape is a bit odd and not fully satisfying. Almost built to be more low profile over useful. The dustbin comes off easily, has a dual opening, one on the bottom to dump stuff out which is a button. It doesn’t immediately open though so I tended to have to open it manually getting some dust and debris on my hand. The other one is on the top, that you kind of peel off. Thankfully, it requires just the right amount of pressure to not happen accidentally or hard enough you end up forcefully opening it and spilling everything. But I love when vacuums come with plastic containers that are reusable and cleanable over bags that you have to keep buying. The entire thing is relatively lightweight at 15 lbs and the handle is comfortable, causing no fatigue during an hour of cleaning. It moves easily where I want it to go. However, my main usability complaint is the start/stop button. Because the vacuum pulls you along slightly, it's a two-handed operation to turn off: you have to lock it upright with one hand or your foot, then reach to press the power button When it is in the locked position, the vacuum suction keeps running but stops the roll from spinning. The lights on the front do a good job at making me see the debris on the carpet/floor. Even in dark rooms. Overall noise of the vacuum is quieter than most while still providing great suction power. OTHER: Shark has also impressed me with their anti-allergen seals and HEPA filter trap to capture 99.99% of dust and allergens inside the vacuum. I’ve never had any issues with things not staying inside the vacuum. The five-year warranty is appreciated. It also comes with some cool tools. The normal pointer tool for hitting corners or stairs. Along with a brush. But uniquely has a wand that helps flat surfaces suck up dirt. Which is hard to explain. I’ll take a picture of it for the review. But is something unique which I think I’ll use a lot. My only aesthetic complaint is the 'Evergreen' color. In person, it comes across as a drab, dated shade of green that makes a high-tech vacuum look like it's from a decade ago. It's a minor point, but the Vertex definitely had a more modern look and makes it look like a more premium device. Cord length is also a bit short. PROS: - Smart-Detect technology is the real deal; you can see and hear it actively working. - Edge-Detect works perfectly, saving you from having to use other tools for corners. - Feels like an upgrade; it's lighter and easier to manipulate than the Vertex. - The transformer versatility is still here, letting you clean everything with one machine. - Headlights are super bright and reveal dirt you can't normally see. CONS: - The automatic mode is too aggressive for throw rugs and tries to eat them. - The power button is in an awkward spot, requiring two hands to turn off. The Vertex did this better. - The "Evergreen" colorway is horrendously ugly and makes it look dated. - Lift-Away pod detaches from the floorhead, so you can't use it to vacuum under low furniture. CONCLUSION: Is it as good as my Vertex? I’m not sure. It’s at least as good if not better. It is lighter, easier to manipulate, has newer features with the sensors, and this is the cleanest I’ve seen my carpet for quite some time. Granted I’ve been having automatic vacuums do the job for quite a while now. Which just don’t provide the same level of clean as one of these bad boys. Overall, I don’t like vacuuming. But having a top-tier vacuum like this makes it a lot more fun and pleasurable experience. As I look forward to it because I can interact with it in several ways, can see it doing a phenomenal job at cleaning, and that reminds me of mowing the lawn. You get a very stark before and after picture which makes the effort not feel wasted.

    Fantastic suction and great features

We have had several Shark vacuum cleaners over the years, ranging from stick models to full blown uprights. I find that generally, the Sharks perform very well and last a long time. The Detect Pro Lift Away has a huge number of innovative features that make it stand out in the sea of uprights available. Setup To start with, the overall initial assembly was very intuitive. Being a Lift Away vac means that you can leave the brush bar assembly behind and just grab the motor and go. Shark has kept it as streamlined as possible by making it bagless. So you can see when it needs to be emptied thanks to it's clear dust cup. This whole assembly is well thought out and allows you to not only remove and empty the dust cup by itself, but also take apart the inner pieces to remove anything that gets trapped. The dust cup is attached directly to the flexible hose which is connected to the handle. The handle itself is removable from the tube it sits in, and you can connect any of the included attachments to this handle piece to clean as you need. This is also true for the tube the handle sits in, as it can also be removed and used with the attachments allowing you to increase your reach. You can do this with the Lift Away portion either disconnected or still attached to the base unit. Using On Floors The brush roll assembly has two different brush rollers installed in it. One is smoother and very soft for hard floors, and the other is more of a traditional roller brush for carpets. The brush assembly also has s series of sensors installed in it to detect things like left and right edge cleaning when the brush unit is run along a wall and also a general dirt detect sensor. All of them are designed to boost motor speed when cleaning what the vacuum sees as dirtier areas. Not only can it detect edges and analyze the amount of dirt it sees, it will also auto detect the floor type and increase the suction and also the brush speed for better performance. The two brush rolls work together to pull in more debris and hair. The vacuum also has an air freshener pod built into the brush roll assembly. You can increase or decrease the amount of scent you want, and it does smell quite nice and gives the room a fresh smell. This helps to keep the dust cup clean smelling as well. And as a bonus, the dust cup area has HEPA seals to keep any allergens locked inside. Power Button The Detect Pro has a unique On/Off button. The button itself is able to be rotated to select the mode you want to use it in. You can choose auto, hard floor, deep carpet or smooth carpet. When you power on the vacuum, there is an illuminated display around the button that lets you know which mode it's in. Personally, I've kept this in the auto position to allow it to detect the floor type itself. Shark also claims the vacuum applies the same amount of suction in both the forward direction as well as reverse. Judging from my experience with this machine, I believe that's a true statement. It does pick up debris in both directions. Actual Use My experience with the Detect Pro has been very positive. The first thing I noticed was that the vacuum actually pulls itself forward on deep carpeting which makes it easy to push forward. The suction power is really good and leaves my carpeting thicker feeling. On hard floors like in my kitchen, vacuuming along the cabinet baseboards engages the side sensors and the motor power kicks up. The two included headlights are small, bright and well placed to show you what's in front of the machine. When I'm done, the dust cup is amazingly full. It's very easy to empty the cup by removing it from the vacuum, positioning it over a garbage can and pressing the release for the bottom door. Anything that doesn't fall out on it's own is easy to remove by reaching into the cup and pulling it out. And along those same lines, there are access doors in any place that might be needed to clean out any clog that might occur. This includes underneath the vacuum. Tools I really like the included tools this vacuum comes with. There's the standard crevice tool that's for, well vacuuming crevices and tight spaces. There are two different brush tools included as well. The first one I use all the time for cleaning the stairs in Lift Away mode. It's actually got two different ways to use this tool. The first is with the brush clipped on. This is a pretty standard vacuum tool as well but it's a larger brush than most other vacuums come with. You can remove the outer brush and use the tool without it. This is great for getting more suction on the stairs, and it also has two short strips on it to snag pet hair. This works great and cleans the stairs better than any other tool I've used. The third tool is an angled brush tool and will come in handy for a variety of situations. You can store two of these tools on board. Your choice. Cons If there was anything to complain about on this vacuum, for me, it's the actual cord. I know, I know, I'm reaching. But when you use a corded vacuum, some cords are easy to work with and some are just not. I also found it to be on the shorter side. Not short exactly, but not as long as other vacuums I have, and use. Another thing I have a problem with is that no matter how I wound the cord on the vacuum cord holder, the plug end was never at the right place to clip it to the cord. It was always either at the top hook or the bottom hook. Which means the plug is always flopping around whenever I pull the vacuum out to use it. Likewise, the cord clip on the handle never kept the cord for very long. It just wasn't small enough to keep the cord secured while vacuuming. I can deal with the cord complaint because the rest of the vacuum is easy to love. It has a lot of cool features, comes with three really useful attachments, easily doubles as a portable vacuum to work on stairs or take out to the car, and at the end of the day, just works really well and leaves our carpets feeling plush.
