“Sharp microwave R 309 YK Just got this microwave today. Can you tell me why it sounds like its powering up and down when Im cooking on high? Is it defective? Cant find anything about this in the manual”

I have never had this issue with my microwave
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine did the same thing many times and usually starts very loudly until it finally stopped cooking today after only 10 months of use. Your unit is cooking at reduced power on its own like mine. Sometimes pushing the clear button several times helped. I also noticed if you do cook at reduced power it will continue in that mode for a while when you restart it trying to cook with full power. All I can hear now is the fan come on when I start mine. Also the light doesn't come on and the turntable doesn't move but it's a lot quieter! I would return it now and get something else and save yourself the aggravation. I'm supposed to get a replacement in a couple days. My last Sharp lasted years that's why I bought this one.
