Can the speakers be laid on there side null

The Sharp CD-BH950 speakers are designed to be positioned on either side of the main unit on a stable, flat surface for best stereo performance, and the manual identifies them as the CP-BH950 speaker system with separate woofer and tweeter drivers. While they may physically be laid on their side if they are stable and the speaker drivers are not blocked, Sharp does not specifically list side placement as the recommended setup, so upright placement is preferred for the best sound quality and stability.
