One thing to note is that the built In remote is IR based and not the standard Roku RF. What that means is it needs a line of sight to the lower right red light on the TV in order to work rather than being able to be in the other room to control the TV. I would make sure you have nothing blocking the red light on the bottom of the lower left side of the TV. If that is not the issue you may have a bad remote or TV or the remote batteries are dead.
