• Any device that outputs over HDMI can be used with this TV. Roku is just the built in smart TV technology which is designed to make it easier to use. You can still access your HDMI and other inputs / outputs, but you use the Roku interface to select them. That's why the remote doesn't have 100 different buttons that you'll never use. It's very simple to operate once you get used to it.

• Yes the DIRECTV box with HDMI will work great connected to the Sharp Roku TV.
