“Do you need to have a Smart Phone to use this TV? Or does the remote allow you to access everything? We don't have smart phones and i've read in other TV reviews that the remotes are useless apart from turning the TV on and off.”

There is no smart phone needed. You do need to use the Sharp remote for setting changes and to access Netflix and the like. The Sharp remote works. I'm not sure what other reviewers have had problems with. I use my cable company provided remote as well. If you use the switched input on the back of your cable box, you do not even need to reprogram the remote.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The T.V remote has buttons for Netflix, Amazon, VUDU (digital movie rental and storage app), and Youtube. As long as the T.V is hooked up to WiFi, or directly wired to your network via Ethernet cable you will have access to these apps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No smartphone needed, a keyboard pops up on the screen when you need to type things in. This is a little slow if you have long words to type in but it works fine.
