• Best I can tell is it's plastic. Again, best I can tell the bulb is incandescent (no problem since the last Sharp MW I had had an incandescent that lasted until the something else died at 17 years).

• Hello Lynne, the wave guide cover is made from a material called Mica. The light bulb is incandescent.
