“Does the fan turn on when plugged in, or does it need to be manually turned on after plugging in? Asking because I'd like to set it up with a smart switch to turn on based on thermometer readings.”

• If you leave it on when you unplug it, I think it will be on when you plug it in. It's no longer the season for me to use it now so it's packed away.

• you will not be able to remotely operate this fan. it will default to an off state when power is removed
