The Shorty has no electrical parts, so it can be taken underwater. It won't float the GoPro though, so you'll want to add a float attachment to the setup or make sure the camera is securely tethered just in case. Also, if you're going to use it in salt water, it's always a good idea to rinse it and the GoPro with fresh water afterward.
