While they look similar, they are a bit different. Primarily, this mic offers a USB connection that makes it super versatile. You also have XLR and onboard monitor out. Overall mic does a great job with vocals and noise cancellation. Very good for voice/podcast recording. Shure software makes overall adjustments very simple for presence and tone. If you are looking for higher-end quality that made sm7b famous, you may want to stick with that and deal with the complexity of connecting and adjusting to your needs. If you want a simple and convenient option that works really well and sets up directly with your computer, this is a good option, I’m happy with this model.

While both provide superior audio clarity and performance the MV7 is designed for a 'plug and play' experience geared towards beginner / entry level situations. The SM7B, due to its professional studio nature requires a more advanced level of audio connectivity knowledge. Thank You!
