I would go with the 50mm it will give you more range. The 50mm is also a great portrait lens. The 50mm is a good walk around lens and would be a good way to go with only one lens. I hope this is helpful. Sigma lens have become very competitive with other major brand lens. I now own several and love them all. The ART line of lenses is incredible. Check out the comparisons on Utube. They also come with nice cases. Not always the case with Canon. The price is also better than Canon lenses
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, this lens is under 1000 on bestbuy when I got it. It’s really good quality lens, very sharp image and fast focusing(still slower than the high end canon L lenses). But if you are on a limited budget, I suggest you to the the 24-105 4L or even the 24-70 sigma. Then use the rest of the budget to get a canon 50mm 1.4. So the zoom lens will cover the outdoor part and the prime will cover the indoor part. Both of them have decent quality images. But if you can only buy ONE and can go over 1K, get the canon 24-70 L lens or the sigma 24-70 art.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If shooting space is not a concern I would say the 50mm. With the 50mm there is less concern of barrow distortion. I feel the 35mm does focus a little better than the 50mm in my experience. I shoot with the Canon 6d Mark I.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I used the lens on Canon 5D mark 3. I am assuming 6D has a crop censor with that said, a 35mm lens gives you a 50mm crop factor and 50mm lens gives you the 85mm crop factor. If this is your 1 lens then go for the 35mm for a full body and background shots and be able to move around whereas, the 50mm will be good for portrait shots (1/2 body) but you will need space / enough room to move around (indoors). If you will use it outdoors then its a different story because you can just zoom in and out with your feet. Just remember this is a non zoomable lens so you will have to move around when taking photos. Sigma is the best lens in my opinion. Of course, owning a Canon L series is still a must. But if you will just take pictures of your kids i suggest getting the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 lens that cost $1200 (new release). It will be a lot useful for you because it has all the range that you need. Also, prices on sigma 35mm and 50mm are cheaper used on craigs. You might consider that as well.
