Apparently you do not have to be on auto-renew, just reactivate when you need to use it if it's more than 30 days from last plan purchase. However, I didn't get that far. After getting the initial activation going, the device was locked and would not allow me to connect the same device from the week earlier. When I called tech support, they would not offer any assistance because I did not have the phone number of the device. I gave them the user ID, SIM card number, device serial number and PIN. They could see all that, but would not proceed because of the missing phone number. This phone number was suppose to show in the menu of the Moxee device, but it did not. I am returning the device this week, but I lost $40 on the data plan. I will NEVER deal with Simple Mobile again.
